Artemio (Tim)'s Story

Life My Spouse Met spouse-to-be Connie in dormitory at University of Washington in Seattle; we lived one floor apart in "Baker House". I was her "Secret Santa" in 1982. Over summer 1983 she broke up with her then-fiance, after which the two of us attended many events (football games, concerts, etc) with each other, and have been together ever since. She graduated from UW with a BS in nursing in 1985, and we married in 1986. After she served as an officer in the US Air Force early in our marriage, she got a master's degree in education from George Washington University in 2000. She is an outstanding nurse, now works in the neonatal intensive care unit in our large local hospital. My Pets A smooth collie named Roxy; wife and daughter found the breed online and made a great choice. Roxy was born June 2006 and has been with us since Aug 2006. My Kids First three were boys, classic first-, middle-, and last-born types. All are very good in school (like their mom), sports (unlike me), and music. David graduated from Cal State Northridge in May 2010, was a jazz studies (piano) and poli sci dual major. He is now living in New York City, trying to get jazz gigs for a while. Middle son Ben is an excellent student and saxophonist, and started college at UCLA (mechanical engineering) in Sep 08. He transferred to University of California at Irvine in fall 2010, where his girlfriend is also studying. Youngest son Sean graduated e...Expand for more
arly from Quartz Hill High School in 2009; he is now at Antelope Valley College, completing some pre-university requirements. Daughter Aliya was born 5 yrs after last boy; is an absolute joy, gets along with anyone & everyone. She does extremely well in school, sings in a competition children's choir, and plays cello. My Job I love it. I am involved with flight testing aircraft for the USAF at Edwards AFB in California, and have worked here since I finished college in 1985. It is always interesting, and although sometimes a little risky for pilot/airplane, usually both safe yet exciting. I also enjoy dealing with the test pilots & engineers I work with, who are world-class experts in their fields, and come from all over the US and other countries just because they love airplanes (like me); what other reason could there be to live in the Mojave Desert? I have particularly enjoyed learning from visitors from Israel and the United Kingdom, who have come to Edwards to participate in the tests of aircraft their countries are acquiring. I was given the chance to work on a variety of airplanes over the course of my time at Edwards, including F-16s, B-2s, and F-15s. After 7 years of being responsible for testing the avionics and armament integration of the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, I am now responsible for a group of about 40 engineers who perform performance and flying qualities tests on a variety of USAF aircraft.
